In traditional Burmese art, applying gold leaf over a dark lacquer base is a sacred technique known as Shwe-cha. The deep black or red lacquer acts as the perfect canvas, making the gold leaf pop with an incredibly rich, warm, and authentic historical glow.

Since it is gold, avoid using a harsh camera flash, which can make the gold look washed out or fake. Instead, photograph it in warm, soft, natural side lighting . This will make the raised lacquer patterns cast soft shadows, proving that it is authentic, high quality handwork!
