DESCRIPTION:Buddha standing with the right hand is held in varada mudra (wish fulfilling gesture), whilst the left is turned inwards against the chest clasping the hem of the diaphanous robe.

This standing image of the Buddha, may be an idealised portrait of a Pagan king. The figure wears monk's robes and a pointed bud and leafy crown, which encloses a high coiled top knot.

PERIOD: 17th century

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Pagun, Burma

The Pagan kingdom (11th to 13th centuries) produced a flourishing of Buddhist art including murals, bronze, stone, and wood sculptures, and temple buildings.

CONSTRUCTION: Wood
RARITY AND CONDITION: Extremely rare, good condition, some possible cleaning / restoration, expected day to day wear (see photos)
